Saudis to check-up diplomatic sites: Ghasemi

TEHRAN, Sep. 04 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ghasemi says that the Saudis received their visas to Tehran a month ago and the Iranian diplomats have their visa to KSA in their hand now.

“The visits were set a long ago,” said Mr. Ghasemi, on Monday, on the sidelines of a service ceremony, held on Monday, to commemorate the first Iranian FM after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Ebrahim Yazdi.

According to Mr. Ghasemi, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to exchange diplomatic delegations to checkup their diplomatic missions in Tehran and Riyadh.

“It was around a month ago that the Saudi delegation received their visas and the Iranian delegation has got their visas at their hands today, but I think that the two delegations will visit the one another capitals to inspect the diplomatic buildings in Riyadh and Tehran,” recounted the Iranian diplomat.

He seemed uninformed when asked about the exact time of the visits, “but it seems that they would be after the time of Hajj rituals.”

When Mr. Ghasemi was asked if the visits made by Putin’s and Macron’s envoy to Tehran were related to Astana talks, he said that the French delegation is following an economic agenda and there is no connection between the visit of the French and Astana talks, however, he did not dismiss the prospect of Astana talks being discussed with the Russian envoy.

“We are continuously in touch with Russian government on Astana talks and other regional issues,” underlined the Iranian diplomat, “Iranian delegations repeatedly visit Russia and exchange views on the regional developments.”

Ebrahim Yazdi, a revolutionary figure who sided Ayatollah Khomeini, the late leader of the 1979 Islamic Revolution passed away on August 27, in Izmir, Turkey, due to complications from cancer.
